The Cubic Soundbar represents a perfect blend of aesthetic form and manufacturability, achieved through hands-on prototyping. Designed to evoke a sense of movement and dynamism, this soundbar breaks away from traditional audio equipment shapes by introducing a bold, innovative design.
Designer: Sean Gao
The concept of twisting motion is at the heart of the CUBIC Soundbar’s design. The initial exploration focused on wavy, dragging, and pulling forms to introduce a sense of flow into the design. Through this journey, the breakthrough came in the form of six individual cubes. This geometric arrangement provides aesthetic appeal and functionality, as the cubes twist and shift to create a dynamic silhouette that feels alive.

The design isn’t just about visual impact; the soundbar’s form directly enhances its audio performance. By positioning the speaker units in various directions, the Cubic Soundbar delivers a more immersive and expansive listening experience. Whether it’s enhancing the audio of a desktop setup, a television, or an open room, it adapts to different environments effortlessly.
One of the most significant challenges of designing the soundbar was ensuring that the product could be manufactured with precision while maintaining its unique design elements. The design process involved multiple iterations of 1:1 scale prototypes to fine-tune every aspect of the assembly. This meticulous approach ensured that each component of the soundbar could be produced efficiently without sacrificing its intricate form.
To ensure ease of assembly, every piece of this soundbar concept was carefully designed and engineered. The prototyping phase allowed for the identification of potential manufacturing issues, which were addressed early in the process, leading to a final product that balances complexity with practicality.
Its unique form factor makes it adaptable for use in various settings. The multi-directional orientation of the speakers provides a full-bodied sound experience, whether it’s used as part of a home entertainment system, on a desktop for a personal workstation, or in a more expansive environment.
Its ability to fuse aesthetics with functionality makes it a standout product in the world of audio equipment. Crafted through a hands-on prototyping process, this soundbar not only looks dynamic but also delivers an exceptional, immersive listening experience. The design’s flexibility, coupled with its manufacturing precision, ensures that the CUBIC Soundbar is both a visual and auditory delight, suited for diverse environments.
